🤸 Squad Code of Conduct

BullGnG Gymnastics Academy — Updated {{ 'now' | date: "%d %b %Y" }}

At BullGnG, the safety, wellbeing and progress of every gymnast comes first. The following standards apply to all Development & Squad gymnasts and their parents/carers.

This document supports our Club Policies & Safeguarding. Coaches may adapt training for safety or individual needs.

🛡️ Safety & Training Standards

  • Follow coach instructions immediately. Skills are attempted only when set and supervised by a coach.
  • Warm-up & cool-down are compulsory in every session. No inversions or high-impact elements before warm-up is complete.
  • Progressions first: New/advanced skills require demonstrated readiness (strength, shape, drills) before full attempts.
  • Spotting & belts are used only by trained staff. Gymnasts must not self-spot or spot others.
  • One at a time on apparatus (unless a drill needs more, as directed). Keep landing areas clear; no crossing run-ups.
  • Mats must be correctly placed & secure before any attempts. Tell a coach if a mat shifts or feels unstable.
  • Pits & soft-play safety: Enter feet-first unless coached otherwise; never dive into head-first; never bury/hide under foam.
  • Bars & grips: Report worn dowels, torn grips or rips immediately; tape/replace before continuing.
  • Vault/board checks: Ensure board height, spring count and run-up are correct and stable before use.
  • Hydration & breaks: Use only designated drink breaks; water only in the gym (no food/chewing gum).
  • Report hazards, pain or dizziness to a coach straight away; stop activity until cleared.
  • Emergency procedures: Follow coach directions; know exits and assembly points in the venue.

👕 Attire & Personal Equipment

  • Leotard required for all squad sessions. Close-fitting layers allowed for warmth; no zips or loose strings.
  • Hair tied back securely; nails short. No jewellery (new piercings must be taped and notified to coaches).
  • Footwear/grips as directed by the coach (e.g., handguards/wristbands for bars when appropriate).
  • Personal kit (as advised): grips, wristbands, wrist supports, resistance bands, water bottle, small towel.
  • Chalk: Use chalk bins sparingly; hands over the bin; wipe spills to keep surfaces safe.
  • Competition wear: Club-approved leotard/kit must be worn at events.

🤝 Behaviour & Respect

  • Be polite, supportive and encouraging to teammates and staff; bullying or disrespect will not be tolerated.
  • Stay focused and disciplined; no horseplay, chasing or shouting across the gym.
  • Listen actively during briefings, feedback and debriefs; ask questions at the right time.
  • Phones stay in bags during training (unless coach permission for training review).
  • Look after club equipment; tidy up after each rotation.

📅 Commitment & Attendance

  • Regular attendance is essential for progress and safety in a squad environment.
  • Arrive on time, prepared, with enough time to change and be ready to start.
  • Absences should be reported in advance where possible (injury/illness as soon as known).
  • Parents wishing to increase training hours: please speak to a coach so we can place your child in the best groups/times.
  • Support attendance at competitions, displays and squad events where applicable.
Fees & payments follow the club’s 44-week programme and monthly structure. See Fees, Payments & Cancellations.

⛑️ Health, Medical & Injury Return

  • Provide accurate, up-to-date medical information at enrolment and update us with any changes (injuries, asthma, allergies).
  • Do not attend if acutely unwell, with a contagious illness, or if a coach advises rest.
  • Injuries must be reported immediately. Coaches may modify or stop participation in the interests of safety.
  • Return-to-train: follow medical guidance and coach-led phased return plans. A fit-note may be requested for significant injuries.
  • Coaches may administer basic first aid and call emergency services if required; parents/emergency contacts will be informed.
Helpful to bring for rehab phases
  • Resistance band, light ankle/wrist support if advised, notepad for exercises.
  • Trainers for conditioning if apparatus work is limited.

🏟️ Facility & Equipment Rules

  • Gymnasts use apparatus only when supervised and as part of a set rotation.
  • Keep run-ups, landings and walkways clear at all times.
  • Report damaged or unstable equipment immediately; do not move large items without coach permission.
  • Fire exits must stay clear; bags and bottles go in designated areas.
  • Food, hot drinks and chewing gum are not permitted in the gym.
  • Spills (water/chalk) should be cleaned promptly to prevent slips.

📸 Media & Mobile Devices

  • No parent filming/photography during sessions unless the club has given permission for a specific event.
  • Coaches may use photo/video for technical feedback or club promotion where consent has been given. You can opt in/out at any time via email.
  • Gymnasts’ phones remain in bags unless a coach asks to review a skill video.

👨👩👧 Parents & Spectators

  • Please use designated viewing areas and avoid coaching from the sidelines.
  • Ensure timely drop-off and collection. Inform us if you’re running late.
  • Direct queries to a coach after the session or by email (bullgng@gmail.com).
  • Support positive behaviours — praise effort, resilience and respect.

⚖️ Breach of Code & Sanctions

Failure to follow this Code may lead to:

  • Verbal reminder and re-instruction
  • Temporary removal from an activity or session
  • Parent meeting and action plan
  • Suspension or removal from the squad (for persistent or serious breaches)
Nothing in this Code limits your statutory rights. Concerns can be raised confidentially with the Club Welfare Officer or Head Coach.

✅ Acknowledgement
